He was a disciple of Jacob Tam (Rabbeinu Tam) and wrote piyyutim and some tosafot on Talmudic treatises which are frequently quoted. He also wrote a commentary to the Mishnah which is mentioned by Samson of Sens (RaSh) and some of which is quoted by Hayyim ben Bezaleel in Or ha-Ḥayyim. Moses ben Abraham of Pontoise is also mentioned by others as having written a commentary on the Pentateuch.
