Biography:
Born in Russia in 1812, Abraham Hirsch ben Jacob Eisenstadt is renowned for his important work Pitḥe Teshuvah in which he collected the important works of his predecessors and added to them an almost complete index of responsa and decisions of later authorities on all the subjects treated in the Shulchan Aruch.
